The "ALSET-400", Aviation Life Support Equipment Tester, is engineered for the U.S. Army & U.S. Army National Guard. The "ALSET-400" is a lightweight, compact hand held multi-purpose digital tester that is programmed with time & OHM resistance to test military and commercial Alkaline & Lithium batteries. It is programmable for 8 custom batteries of your choice. The "ALSET-400" also tests Distress Marker Strobe Lights (SDU-5/E & MS-2000M) flash rate per minute, Flight Helmet Earphones, Boom Microphones, Communication Cords, Oxygen Mask Microphones & Headsets. It is also an OHM and Volt Meter used to isolate defective component parts. The "ALSET-400" is capable of testing all 4 ANVIS Mount electrical contacts, ANVIS wiring, switch & voltage of the batteries in the Low Profile Battery Pack.

By plugging the Flight Helmet Communications Cord plug (U-174/U) into the "ALSET-400", the OHMS and continuity of the Earphones, Boom Microphone and Communications Cord as well as the Oxygen Mask Microphone can all be tested. The OHMS function of the "ALSET-400" can isolate defective component parts (i.e. earphones & microphones).

An NVG Test Adapter (P/N 14229-3) is provided with the "ALSET-400". It will test the voltage of the batteries in the Low Profile Battery Pack, the switch, the connection and continuity of the wiring along with all 4 NVG Helmet Mount electrical contacts in the ANVIS Helmet Mount. The "ALSET-400" places the exact mili-amp resistance on the system during testing as an actual Night Vision Goggle in the "ON" mode for 5 seconds, testing the entire system with load accuracy. * ( NVG Test Adapter P/N 14229-3 does not test the Low Battery Indicator LBI Light)

The pre-programmed Battery Test Mode easily allows the user to test batteries with and without OHMS resistance and time as per Technical Manual requirements. The pre-programmed batteries include both Alkaline & Lithium: AAA, AA, C, D (1.5V), 9V Alkaline, 6.4V Lithium SDU-5/E Strobe (100 OHMS/10 Sec. Test), 12V Lithium PRC-90 Radio Battery (130 OHMS/10 Sec. Test), 3V NVG Battery Pack. 8 additional custom batteries of your choice may be programmed into the Custom Battery Mode. This Custom Battery Program allows you to program voltage, OHMS resistance and time for battery testing. The "ALSET" gives you both the voltage reading and percentage of the rated voltage remaining in the battery being tested.
The "ALSET" is also an OHM & Volt Meter used to isolate defective component parts using the test leads provided.
