The "ALSET" Aviation Life Support Equipment Tester will test Lithium & Alkaline Batteries, Survival Strobe Lights, Flight Helmet Earphones, Oxygen Mask & Boom Microphones, NVG Bracket contacts & support system. The "ALSET" is also an OHM & VOLT meter used to isolate defective flight equipment component parts. It measures 8 1/2 inches tall, 4 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches thick and is housed in a high impact rubber boot with stand. The "ALSET" is powered by a commercial 9 Volt battery with approximately 40+ hours of continuous use. An automatic 3 minute shut-off after no use will save your battery power.
The "ALSET" is engineered and programmed to test commercial batteries as well as military batteries, both Alkaline and Lithium. The programmed battery mode easily allows the user to test batteries with and without OHMS resistance and time as per Technical Order requirements. The programmed batteries include: AAA, AA, C, D (1.5V), 9V Alkaline, 6.4V Lithium SDU-5/E Strobe, 12V Lithium PRC-90 Radio, 9V URT-33C/M-D Beacon, 3V NVG Low Profile Battery Pack, 3.2V & 3.6V Lithium. 8 additional custom batteries of your choice may be programmed into the Custom Memory Mode. The Custom Battery Program allows the user the choice of VOLTAGE, OHMS RESISTANCE & TIME to be tested. The "ALSET" gives you both the voltage reading as well as the percentage of rated voltage remaining in the battery being tested.
The "ALSET" is programmed to test the flash rate per minute for both the SDU-5/E & MS-2000M Distress Marker Strobe Lights. By simply holding the flashing strobe 1 inch from the Strobe Sensor Window, you will get the flash rate per minute test reading in only 2 flashes.
By plugging the Oxygen Mask, Flight Helmet or Headset Communications Cord plug (U-174/U only) into the "ALSET", the OHMS and continuity of the earphones (low & high impedance), dynamic microphone and communications cord can all be tested.
An NVG Test Adapter for the NVG Helmet Bracket is included and will test the voltage of the batteries (Low Profile Battery Pack & Helmet Bracket), the switch, continuity of the wiring, all 4 NVG Helmet Mount electrical contacts and on the USAF/ANG 14229-7 NVG LBI Test Adapter the Low Battery Indicator (LBI) Light circuit may be tested. The "ALSET" places the exact mili-amp resistance load on the system as an actual Night Vision Goggle in the "ON" mode for 5 seconds, testing the entire system with load accuracy.
The "ALSET" Tester replaces up to 4 other outdated testers currently being used in the Aircrew Flight Equipment field, some that are supported with expensive odd batteries. The "ALSET" gives you a lightweight, compact, hand held multi-purpose digital tester for daily use as well as a small foot print for deployments.
